David Goddard

Postby Commish » Thu Dec 27, 2018 9:47 am

...has resigned. :wall:

His wife gave birth on the 23rd, and the baby has been in the NICU since then. With all that is happening in his life, he believes he won't have the time to devote to the league.

Perfectly understandable.

But...this couldn't have come at a worse time. Unless we find a replacement owner in the next four days, we're screwed.

Any ideas?

By the way, I F'ing told you guys that this franchise is cursed, and we need to blow it up completely.

But did you listen?

No.

 It's a little late to switch, Lee. The Lightning aren't cursed -- they're just horrible. The Vigilantes are both horrible AND cursed. The last two owners before David both passed away at an early age. But, you know, heaven forbid we each sacrifice our 25th-best player to blow up that franchise forever and start from scratch.

I went ahead and filled out the Cutdown Day form for that franchise. We're going to have to assign a temporary GM (Ryan?) to conduct the farm draft, auction, and draft. There is no way in hell we'll be able to get someone brand-new on board that quickly. As it stands, I'll have to hand my farm draft list to Ryan -- which means he'll steal every one of my players. :wall:

Never a dull moment in the BDBL.

Very sorry to hear about the baby. I hope everything turns out ok. Christmas gift and nightmare all in one. :(

When I first joined I was talking to a friend of mine that was interested in possibly doing a co-owner situation. I've reached out to him to get his take.

Thank you all!

Chamra has also offered to manage the auction and drafts, as he hardly has any roster spots to fill on his own squad.

Prayers to the Goddard!

Friends of mine had a baby born like three and a half months prematurely about nine years ago. All healthy ever since she came out of NICU. Amazing what they can do with preemies now. So I have nothing but confidence this baby will be just fine.

Two of my three sons were preemies. My youngest was born on December 12th and didn't come home until Christmas Eve.

UPDATE:

Good news! We may have a new owner. According to my source, it's a 97% certainty. Thanks again to all who offered to help look for a replacement. If you did manage to track down a lead, don't let it slip away. We may need it again!
