Hall of Fame Balloting Open
Hall of Fame Balloting Open
Make it count!
This is the most boring ballot in league history. The only newcomers worth putting on the ballot were Mark Buehrle, Tim Hudson, Ryan Howard, and Justin Morneau. Frankly, all four are stretches just to be considered.
I only voted for one: Oswalt. And that's only because I'm considering his postseason efforts as well as regular season. Based on regular season alone, I think he misses.
(Note: remember, if you don't think anyone deserves to be a HOF'er, you'll need to submit an empty ballot.)

Mike, can you please post a link to the actual Hall of Fame page. I'd like to refresh my memory on the stats of those already inducted. The link from the home page just goes to the ballot.

In good conscience, I could not vote for any of the nominees.
2021 BDBL Champs!
Re: Hall of Fame Balloting Open
I voted for Abreu and Edmonds. Yeah Abreu was a bit of an accumulator but he does rank pretty well in all time categories. Edmonds was such a great defender, had a very high OPS, and was a key component on a few championship teams.

I voted for Edmonds; changed from previous years vote. Defense has to be considered.
Re: Hall of Fame Balloting Open
My problem with Edmonds is that he only played seven full seasons in the BDBL.

Re: Hall of Fame Balloting Open
Would it be weird if we thought about managers/GMs for the hall of fame? Tom for instance? Paul could be on the ballot? Or is that just too much to think about...

I vote Halladay, Oswalt, and Abreu.
How many HOFers besides Halladay were traded three years in a row (twice in one year)??

Yeah, right. You just want to see what you’d look like in bronze.
I fear that would turn into a popularity contest. The potential for hurt feelings would be yuge, too.

Re: Hall of Fame Balloting Open
Halladay and edmunds got my vote. Abreau has nearly 2x as many PAs as everyone else on the ballet but his stats weren’t that much better despite that IMO.
Agree that edmunds defense has to be considered. He’s a true Two way All Star.

Re: Hall of Fame Balloting Open
How did Lance Berkman get in again? I don't get that one. I almost turned in a blank ballot, but Halladay is on the edge of deserving. Edmonds didn't do enough for me. Also, how did Jeter get in already if the five years aren't up?

I think I only voted for Roy Halladay. Oswalt had only 2 seasons with an ERA under 3.50. Many of his wins were just because he played for great teams.

John, Berkman got in because he’s a ‘Tipper legend — and totally deserving.
Re. Jeter, we don’t have the same foolish five-year waiting period the HOF has. It’s three years for us.
