2020 Ballparks

Postby Mike S./Rocks » Wed Dec 18, 2019 4:48 pm

Hello, I am taking over ballpark selection from Greg.

Mike, please sticky.

As a reminder, the new ballpark rule passed forcing everyone back into a MLB model or the Neutral Park. In addition, we also allow multiple teams to occupy the same model.

Watch this space in the coming days for ballpark choices. If you already know what you want to do with your ballpark, go ahead and post. The following teams are already locked into parks through at least 2020. EDIT: Whatever parks you are in, you can choose the park factors for 2018 or 2019 to use for the upcoming BDBL season:

Chicago
Saskatoon
SoCal
Bear Country
Darien
Ravenswood
South Loop
Kansas
Joplin
Great Lakes
North Carolina

Here are the choices for everyone else: (EDIT: If you are staying w/your current ballpark, that is. All these teams are also eligible to choose a new park.)

Code: Select all

Salem would like to switch to the 2019 version of whatever the "Los Angeles" Angels call their ballpark these days.

If I'm understanding the rules correctly, I can stay with LAD 19 or switch to LAD 20?

I'm sure I'm wrong about this, but my interpretation of the rules is that you're only stuck with the same MLB park for three years. Each year, you can select either the previous year's or current year's factors for the park you chose. But then after three years, you can select a completely different MLB ballpark.

15.2 A team must play in the same ballpark a minimum of three consecutive years unless it qualifies under Rule 15.4. (Note: one-time exception in 2015 to accommodate new rule.)

15.10 At the end of each season (beginning in 2016), owners have the option of retaining the ballpark factors from the prior season, rather than adopting the factors from the new Diamond Mind Baseball player disk.

So, the eleven franchises Stein listed as "locked in" can actually choose whether to use 2019's factors or last year's, as long as it's the same MLB park.

Someone now correct me.

Yes, this is correct. You are locked into those stadiums, but can choose the park effects for either 2018 or 2019.

Well, shit I am the Czar of Ballparks and Graphics, which you don't want to include Graphics as part of my Czardom, and I did not realize that was part of the title when I took over the ballparks.I mean, I could help find one online and maybe manipulate it a little, but I do not have the skills or tools to design one.

Is it advisable too take the 2019 version of any park that maintained the same dimensions? Do hrs in a given park factor in at all?

The Commish can decide that.

Looks like last year all decisions were in by Jan. 6. And the thread was started the day after Christmas.
