2019 Auction - Day 11 / Lot 9 Closed

Postby Outlaws » Fri Jan 11, 2019 10:07 pm

Cleveland takes a 6.5M contract out on Miles Mikolas.
Kansas City signs Edwin Encarnacion for 3.5M.
But Darien is the big winner, signing Pollock for 5.5M, Donaldson for 5M, and Rondon for 4.5M.

Pollack was up at the top of my targets in this class I think he has a massive year. Okay since I have minimal long term contract. Donaldson is a play for next year. And rondon is solid. Might have a year if not. Decline.

Greg, just a quick note, although I guess ultimately on your end it doesn't really matter. I reviewed all of the remaining players and cap room per the Reports page and every team checks out except North Carolina. They had $13.2 in salary entering the auction (as shown correctly on their team roster page) and they've spent $18.0M in the auction so far, so they should have a total salary of $31.2M with $32.3M remaining.

I humbly apologize to Lee for forcing him to go Type H on Pollock.

By my count there have been 19 Type H players this year. Simmons is most likely to make it 20 to match last year.

Last few years:

2018 -- 20
2017 -- 25
2016 -- 20
2015 -- 11

$269.3 million left to spend on 234 players

Tony, next time PM me about stuff like this. I don’t care if it is posted here as well, but I don’t always read all these things. I’m taking a look at things now.

According to the table on the Draft Day Page, NC started the auction with 49.8M free and needed 18 players on their 35-man. They also showed at 13.7M allocated to salary, not 13.2M.

They signed Eovaldi (6.5), Posey (6), Votto (5.5) for 18M. That means they have 31.8M which matches what they have on the Auction Report.

So my numbers match what is on that page, which is all I can do. If that initial information is wrong, let me know what I need to do. Theorectically, I can reset everything on my end with NC’s correct and process all 11 days of bids late tonight, but it will push my ability to process the bids tonight because right now I’m booked through at least 7PM tonight.

It doesn't really matter because I kinda doubt they will win bids that will add up to their total available anyway, just leave it. Mike and I resolved a few discrepancies before things started and I don't think everything got changed on the Draft Day Page.

Here was the issue that didn't get changes on the Draft Day Page....
Mission Viejo salary - I have $13.2 you have $13.7 - Michael Conforto was only signed to a 4 year contract, so his salary should be $1.1M

OK. Moving forward, the three of us need to find a way to make sure we have these right everywhere, Especially, when we move to a Live system. In that case, it’s going to be hard to correct once the horse is out of the barn, so to speak.

Sorry, my bad. I thought I had updated all of the info on the Draft Day Central page. Those are supposed to be the official numbers.

Would have obviously loved him at 5M. But I’m confident he’ll have a big healthy year. Really hoping he gets traded to the Braves.

I can’t believe you and I were the only ones that bid over $3.5M for him. Especially given the amount of money left, and especially given how pathetic the outfield market is this year.

I don’t really see the value with him, to be honest. He’s 31, useless against lefties, only good for 1 position, less than 450 at-bats. He doesn’t stay healthy. DBM will punish him for playing at that Ariz park.

I know there is still great potential! But let’s see it happen. A great gamble for a rebuilding team for sure.

I thought about going after him and then realized Leonys Martin and him had virtually the same stats vs righties
