Or Gary... at what point has the experiment of catcher just not panned out??

My ample gut says Sanchez eventually moves to first. But honestly, the way he moves, I don’t see that working out, either. He’s a good pitch-framer, he calls a decent game, and he has a cannon for an arm. But he just doesn’t seem to care about blocking pitches in the dirt. And when they get past him, it’s like he’d rather just let the runner score from first than have to chase it down.

Wouldn't this be a bad idea? Like a really, really bad idea.

Why would first base be a bad idea? He’s played there before (albeit not much.) He’s a gold glove at second, so I’m sure he wouldn’t be completely incompetent at first. (If Matt Carpenter can do it...)

The most likely scenario is that Torres moves back to short and LeMahieu begins the year at second. Tulo becomes a roving utility infielder, and Bird/Voit share first base.

Eventually, when Didi returns, Voit proves to be a flash in the pan, and Andujar proves he’s not as useless at third as people are making him out to be, Torres returns to second and LeMahieu becomes the primary first baseman.

That’s my prediction and I’m sticking with it!

Sign Manny ... have andujar learn 1b... lineup looks like this

1b voit/andujar
2b dj/torres
ss manny
3b andujar/torres
lf stanton
cf hicks
rf judge
c - sanchez
dh - rotation between stanton/andjuar/sanchez

sprinkle in gardner tulo and bird

Hahaha.... and Jacoby! And Didi when he comes back. He’s a full-time player.

I have to think some trades will get some of these guys out of there. Bringing into Tulo and DJ — Just didn’t seem necessary

Maybe it's just me. If you sign a player whose #1 attribute is that he's arguably the best defensive 2B in the league, why in the world would you play him anywhere other than 2B? Give one of the other players that aren't as good as him at 2B a 1B glove at the beginning of spring training. Like you said if Matt Carpenter can do it...
