Game one was a barnburner as the Slyme sent JasonSchmidt to the hill against Omar Daal for the Fox. Daal threw 3 no-hit innings, but the Slyme greeted him in the 4th by putting up a 2-spot. The followed with single tallies in the 5th and 6th and another 2-spot in the 7th to take a seemingly commanding 6 - 1 lead over the "pathetic" Fox.......or so Fox GM Bobby Sylvester's dad was heard to say. However, the bottom of the 7th was where the story started and ended as the Fox started the 7th with a single by Ricky Ledee, a double by Belliard and another single by pinch-hitter Richie Sexson to plate a run making the score 6-2. Schmidt was then able to get pinch hitter Brad Fullmer to fly-out to center for a sac fly making the score 6-3. The Slyme then brought in Randy Wolf to put out the fire, but he accidently brought gasoline instead of water. First giving up a single to offerman, then another to pinch hitter Widger, then hitting Sean Casey with a pitch and finally giving up a bases-clearing double to Bernie Williams. Slyme GM Bob Sylvester Senior then brought in Dotel, but it was too little too late as Fox closer Doug Brocail shut the door and the Fox held on to a 7-6 win.
