The Fox rolled into Southern California today and finished off Kentucky Fox manager Bobby Sylvester's dads team the Slyme with a tight 3-2 victory. The Fox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd as Bernie Williams and Joe Randa led off the inning with line drive singles to center. Ricky Ledee's ground out moved the runners over and Ron Belliard came through with a clutch double off the wall to plate both Williams and Randa. The Slyme battled back to tie the game on a 2nd inning leadoff homer from Greg Vaughn and a 3rd inning leadoff homer from Chipper Jones. The Fox regained the lead in the top of the 4th with Williams and Randa once again getting leadoff singles and scoring on a ground out by Ricky Ledee. Dave Burba cruised for the Fox allowing six hits in 7 1/3 innings. He did walk five, but fine defense bailed the Fox out. Alan Mills pitched the final 1 2/3 innings for the save. Series MVP was Bernie Williams who batted .700 in the series, hit the Fox lone homer and drove in six in the three game series.
