November 6, 2001 Sea Cats Even Series at Two Apiece SOUTH CAROLINA - The South Carolina Sea Cats have tied the Eck League Division Series against the Akron Ryche at two games apiece thanks to an offensive explosion resulting in ten runs on eleven hits. The Sea Cats hit three homers on the day, including another three-run blast by their pitcher. Pitching on just three days of rest after a 111-pitch Game One outing, Glavine was less than his usual stellar self, allowing three runs through five innings, but he pitched well enough to get his first win of this series. Akron starter Jarrod Washburn was awful, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks through only three innings of work. The Ryche drew first blood in the second inning, scoring a run on two fielder's choice grounders. South Carolina then came out swinging in the second. Glen- allen Hill led off the inning with a homer, and after a base hit and a walk, Glavine stepped to the plate and delivered a three-run blast - the second three- run homer by a Sea Cat pitcher this series. The next inning, Akron second baseman Quilvio Veras bashed a two-run homer that was quickly answered by a two-run single by South Carolina's second baseman, Warren Morris, in the bottom of the inning. The Sea Cats added four more on a solo homer by Barry Larkin, an RBI single by Morris, a sac fly by Mitch Meluskey and an RBI single by Mike Sweeney, while Akron managed to push across just one more run on a Mark Quinn solo shot off Rich Garces. With today's 10-4 win, the Sea Cats and Ryche are now looking at a best-of-three series.
