November 6, 2001 D'Amico Pitches a Gem CHICAGO, IL - Fans who were hoping to see a slugfest between the two most prodigious offensive teams in BDBL history have been sorely disappointed so far. Following Game One's 4-3 pitcher's duel, Kansas Law Dogs starter Jeff D'Amico (who was acquired straight up for the infamous Chad Durbin) pitched a complete game gem, allowing just two hits, two walks and a run to the tough Chicago Black Sox. D'Amico retired the side in order in five of the nine innings he pitched today. He faced only three batters over the minimum, and needed to face Chicago cleanup hitter (and front-runner for the EL MVP) Carlos Delgado only three times all day. His only mistake came in the eighth inning, well after Kansas had built up a 5-0 lead, when he surrendered a solo homer to Scott Rolen. All the offense Kansas would need today came in the very first inning when Carl Everett connected for a three-run homer off Chicago starter Rick Helling. Kansas added another run in the third on an RBI double by Troy Glaus, and one more in the sixth on an RBI double by Miguel Tejada. Kansas now leads the ELDS two games to none as the series shifts to the Fields of Tombstone.
