2008: The Year in Pictures

Los Altos GM Jeff Paulson was the busiest
GM of the 2008 off-season.

Bear Country GM Matt Clemm made a couple of
moves in the winter that secured his first division title.

New Milford GM Anthony Peburn (left) made the
first draft pick of the 2008 season...and then
proceeded to trade him immediately.

San Antonio GM Greg Newgard welcomes his new
$17 million ace, John Lackey.

The Allentown Ridgebacks had $38 million to spend
in the auction, and no glaring holes that required
filling.  So, GM Tom DiStefano just added another
catcher and a fourth outfielder for $25 million.

On the final day of the auction, Salem GM Mike
Glander signed Josh Beckett to a $17 million salary.

After waffling over whether to stay or go for six years,
founding father Ken "The Shark" Kaminski finally
decided to hang it up...for now.

SoCal slugger Magglio Ordonez took home the EL
Babe Ruth and MVP awards, earning every penny of
his $14 million salary.

Corona GM Ed McGowan made his big move, trading
for all-star shortstop Edgar Renteria.

New Hope GM Tony Badger emerged as the surprising
winner of the John Smoltz Sweepstakes.
In what may be the most legendary trade in league
history, new Marlboro GM Nic Weiss somehow convinced
Jim Doyle to trade both of his talented, young, low-cost,
left-handed aces in exchange for a package of injured
and/or unproven prospects.

Just minutes before the deadline, the Salem Cowtippers
announced a trade with the Allentown Ridgebacks that
will either be celebrated for years to come or
haunt them forever.

Ravenswood GM Brian Potrafka celebrates his third
trip to the OLCS in five years with his buddy, Fausto.

Ed McGowan and Joe Mauer celebrate their second trip
to the BDBL playoffs in three years.

SoCal GM Bob Sylvester celebrates an incredible
116-win season with his MVP, Ordonez.

Ho-hum.  EL Cy Young Jake Peavy celebrates yet
another Allentown championship.
