Chuck sites most of the reasons that bothered me, but omitted my displeasure in the bookkeeping that is required for tracking at-bats and pitcher restrictions (far too much work involved for a league that does not have weekly disks sent out). But the kicker were the trades you made and the fact that all credibility and validity of having a salary cap went out the window, and the obvious one-sidedness of them. Having been a commissioner in the past myself, I believe I know what is and is not in the best interest of a league for a commish to do. As I said, Chuck's words below speak for me. -Bryan Mike - I have decided to submit my resignation to the BDBL. I do this for several reasons: First and foremost, I play fantasy baseball to have fun, when it is no longer fun it is time to do something else. I believe I am at that point. I have tried to be a good member of the BDBL however I am somewhat opinionated based on many years of experience in fantasy leagues. Since I signed up for the league I have tried to pass these on to you, but to no avail. Second, we are approximately 1/3 of the way through the season. I made some sabremetric predictions based on the stats which are currently posted on the web. If you are not familiar with these, a team's winning percentage can be predicted from the amount of runs scored and allowed. Using this process, three teams appear to be severely out of "family", the Marauder, Undertakers and Ryche. If these numbers are projected over a 162 game season the difference between predicted wins and actual ones may be as high as 15 (an incredibility higher number than I have ever seen when making these comparisons.) While I do not know these managers personally, it appears that by looking at the home-away records the Ryche's results are somewhat suspect, since they are 7-15 at home and 21-9 on the road, I find it difficult to believe that when playing the game a manager win 70% of the time and when not his team wins at a 32% clip. Third, the deals you made were very good for you and based upon those you should have no trouble winning the First BDBL Championship, even the reworked deal. I look at those deals and wondered what the other guys were thinking. Curtis, (now Bradley and Henry) and a bunch of picks for Stottlemyre and Lankford??? I don't view the picks being worth much with a salary cap in place. I see no benefit in dumping salary this year since there is no carryover provision in the rules, i.e., you could exceed the cap that much next year. The Nen deal was an absolute steal, Nen (with some of the best stats around) for a journeyman pitcher (at best) and two prospects (Davis must not be close to ML material since he was not called up when Hernandez went down.) I just find it disappointing that a commissioner would make these types of deals. My question to you is that based on these two deals how can you "reject" a trade that you would view to be an unbalanced one? Lastly, and one of the most important. I don't believe that the current salary structure and format you have laid out will work in the long run. Based on the rules, each team will have a lot of turnover year after year which for some maybe what they had in mind when joining the BDBL but for me it is not.
