by "Biggest Daddy" Interview with
the BDBL
BIGGEST DADDY:
Hello, various franchises. Thank you all for coming to this roundtable.
As we prepare for another 10 years of Big Daddy Baseball League action,
we need to take a moment to discuss whether we need to oust the current
commissioner for a better one. So, we will go around the table and you
will each give your feedback on Commish Glander
Law Dogs: Mike what can I say that hasnt already been said hundreds
of times. Your passion for making the BDBL The Greatest DMB League in
the (Known) Universe, matches our passion for playing in the The
Greatest DMB League in the (Known) Universe. You have created more than
just a league, but an extended family. Thank you for allowing all us
grown men to live out our childhood dreams of owning/managing a major
league baseball team.
Apostles: Glander, this league is incredible. There really are no words
to describe how thankful I am for all the work you do to make it what it
is. I wish I could express it justly so that you could feel the
appreciation you deserve. I was hoping to think of something that would
make you tear up with joy, but believe it or not, I stayed up too late
studying so I'm a little bit too tired to be super clever. Hope these do
the trick:

Hammerheads: Thanks for putting all the blood, sweat, and semen needed
to put up with all of us. You do a great job of running the league, and
I couldn't imagine this place without you.
Rocks: This might be named the Big Daddy Baseball League after Rick
Reuschel, but we know who the real Big Daddy is. It's you, Mike Glander!
Thanks for creating such a great league. This league has so much more
continuity and greater relationships than even the leagues I'm in where
everyone knew each other ahead of time. It's kept me occupied when I
can't sleep, when I'm bored at work (shhh, don't tell my boss), when I
have nothing to do, and even when I have plenty to do. I'm wishing a
BDBL championship on you -- the year after I get mine.
Badgers: Thanks, Mike, for all the hard work, sweat and tears you put
into this league and your team. Every article you have produced, every
rant about the DMB engine, you can tell it comes from the heart.
Especially the tears.
Fire Ants: Mike - I tried my hardest to think of something witty or
clever to say to help celebrate the BDBL 10 year Anniversary but I
always keep coming back to the same thing....THANK YOU! Seriously, what
you do for the league is simply amazing. You have put your heart and
sole into the BDBL and it shows. A great group of owners, a great web
site, a competitive and realistic set of rules and the most active forum
of any hobby. You have truly put together the best baseball sim league
ever. While 'thanks' doesn't seem like enough, please know that it comes
with the utmost respect and appreciation. Thank you! Gene Patterson -
Atlanta Fire Ants.
Flamingos: Thanks so much Mike for all that you've done. You've created
a very special place where we can all share in our love for this great
game. There have been so many memories over the years - I'm looking
forward to the next 10 years worth! Keep up the great work and long live
the BDBL!
Sea Cats: Thanks Mike, never thought I'd still be doing this 10 years
later, and if anyone else was at the helm there's a good chance I
wouldn't be."
Ryche: It probably doesnt get said enough, but youve done an
incredible job of running the league for the past ten years. Despite
game software that seems to try its best to push us off the deep end,
the league is always enjoyable. Kudos to you, sir. Youve made this the
best baseball league in existence. Heres to ten (at least) more years!
Ridgebacks: Mike, thank you so much for all the time and energy you put
into this league. The BDBL and its owners have become a part of my life
and it's your tireless efforts that have made that possible.
Thanks always,
Tom "The Emperor" DiStefano
Black Sox: Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this
league. The BDBL would not have lasted this long without your commitment
as commissioner. From a personal standpoint, this league makes life a
little more enjoyable and keeps me entertained year around - again, this
is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Padawans: Big Daddy Baseball is one of the most enjoyable, fun
experiences of my life. I am continually impressed by the quality of
material Mike puts on the website, from his farm reports to his monthly
articles to his bold predictions. His stuff always makes for interesting
reading. The annual weekends are amazing. The online camaraderie is
great. The draft, the auction, the trades, the league rivalries, the
divisional rivalries. Simply put, Mike Glander has created the best
baseball league for gamers. That's something people can agree on
regardless of their political ideology.
Undertakers: This is the best hobby in the world! I couldn't think of a
more enjoyable way of spending my free time then the BDBL. I love it. I
can't imagine what my life would be like without the BDBL! Thank you,
Mike!
Slyme: Mike -- thanks for running an exceptional league. From my 1 1/2
years in the Middle East to my constant moves across the US, you've
always been awesome (except in the playoffs of course). I even
appreciate the time you let me come back from an 11-run deficit to beat
you. You are truly a caring, giving, kind gentlemen!!!
Funk: 1- The structure and the league rules are interesting and solid; I
like most of the rules, 2- Thanks for letting me on board, 3- Thanks ???
for letting me in that division
Mustangs: Mike, thank you for your ideas, opinions, intelligence, and
ability to listen (yes, Mike actually does listen sometimes!), but most
of all, thank you for your dedication, energy, and love for the game and
this league. This league couldn't be the best without a great leader.
Spinx: Happy Anniversary Mike! Thanks for all the work you do to make
the BDBL the best league on the planet. And more importantly, thanks for
that steak dinner.
Broncs: Mike, you haven't built the greatest DMB league. You've done
more than that. It's the best DMB community out there. And it starts
with you. Thank you for letting me have the opportunity to play a small
role in that.
Jamboree: Can't thank you enough Glander for providing this amazing
hobby for me and us. I hope the COwtippers never win the World Series so
that you'll continue to have the drive to keep this going for another 10
years plus.
Confederates: Mike, you built it and they came. The BDBL is not just a
league, but a testament to your perseverance. Well played sir.
Blazers: Thanks for running the best league on the planet. Here is to
being a thorn in your side for the next decade. (unless I get kicked
out)
Irish Rebels: Congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the BDBL !!!
It has provided all of us with many great hours of excitement and
tremendous challenges.
It is more than just a hobby. I feel like you have created a great
baseball community where we all can make new friendships and share a lot
of our successes and failures on and off the field.
Keep up the good work and thank you for your friendship and your
committment to all us.
Best wishes to you and your wife and kids.
May you have many more great years with the BDBL...
BD: Alright, no more of this touchy feely nonsense. Lets get back to the
war room wheeling and dealing. |
