I've really reached the end of my rope with you guys. I'm so tired of this shit, it's not even funny anymore. Stamford just acquired Larry Walker AND Greg Myers from Silicon Valley in exchange for Hee Seop Choi and Ben Petrick. No, this is not a joke. I'm dead serious. I give up. Myers though makes it a very good trade. Getting a decent power bat from the left side at C is a big plus. Obviously a very good trade for him, looks like the wild card is looking more like your goal (which sucks for me because it also looks like wild card for me as well). Hey, I tried for Myers, couldn't make a match. So will we hear from Paul on the board about the trade???? What about Myers?? Myers is a better hitter than Walker! AND he's a catcher! Surprised it took so long. Go ahead and start lumping me in with Billy and the other co-conspirators from now on. We're all just one big farm club for Stamford after all. Walker has been decent for me but landing someone like Choi who is an option year is a nice pickup for me. Getting a 25-year old guaranteed starter for next year is a no-brainer. Myers is OK but sure hasn't hit that well for me and he. Petrick is garbage but can help offset the loss of Myers or can be cut for a free agent. Sharky, there was not much that I saw on your roster that fit my plans. I tried to give you a counter offer, but time was short... _________________ Silicon Valley CyberSox Worst to First in '05! I asked about him on an almost daily basis last winter, and was told each and every time he was untouchable. Now, just six weeks later, he's a throw-in. Funny how that works, isn't it? Choi for Walker wasn't enough?? That sure seems reasonable to me. I guess you guys will never, ever learn from the past. I guess this shit just never, ever gets old around here. Every time I think this league has gotten so much smarter, someone comes along and proves me wrong. Um...WE'VE ONLY PLAYED ONE F'ING CHAPTER!! Are we honestly making trades based upon ONE CHAPTER of statistics??? If that's the case, who wants Kerry Wood, Curt Schilling, Guillermo Mota, Lance Berkman, Luis Gonzalez and J.T. Snow from me?? Those guys all suck ass! Greg, it's perfectly reasonable that you'd want to get something for Walker and Myers if you suspected you couldn't compete this year. But why not get something a little more than Hee Seop F'ing Choi?? Why not hold out another chapter and see what comes up?? Why not trade Walker and Myers separately, where you'd get much more bang for your buck?? But more than that, why would you want to hand your best two players to the team that has just won four championships in five seasons - the team that has done so primarily by ripping off everyone in sight at the trade table - without making him pay DOUBLE what you'd ask for from any other franchise??? I just don't get it! You guys are killing me. You really are. At the time, I thought I'd have enough to compete for a WC. Plans change. I announced the white flag. You were the first one to respond and didn't mention Myers once. Might have had a shot with a good package, but I knew you didn't have a disposable young hitter lying around like he did. I have to look out for one person and if you don't like it, well you can feel free to punch me in the mouth at BDBL Weekend. You got Zito from me, he got Walker. Boo hoo. _________________ Silicon Valley CyberSox Worst to First in '05! I'm sure Hee-Seop was the best you could have possibly gotten in exchange for Larry Walker AND Greg Myers. Of course, had you kept Casey Kotchman, you wouldn't need Choi, right? I need a drink. I don't know why I thought such a thing. I may as well just trade away my entire farm system this year, because it's obvious that no matter what team I put on the field, it's going to be 23 teams against one in this league. I guess Walker plays center field? Either that, or he becomes the greatest pinch hitter in league history. All of the guys I want to trade (Gobble, Tankersley, Cruz, Nance, Miller, etc.) have no trade value right now because no one knows what they're capable of doing. If you're rebuilding, you normally don't want to trade until the guys you are trading for have given you at least a month or two of 20/20 hindsight. I just don't understand the rush to make this trade. (And with that, I think that's the 16th time I've used the phrase, "I just don't understand.") Teams bailing so freaking early in the season. 2. Teams trading star players in the final year of their contract so early in the year. Their value isn't going to change. But the guys you're trading for certainly will. 3. That the Zoots now have Larry Walker and Manny Ramirez in the middle of their lineup. The two guys who COMPLETELY KILLED ME BY NOT HITTING A FREAKING THING in the championship series last year. I'm glad I'm not in the Ozzie league. You guys are crazy...... I'm now trailing a team by five games, despite the fact that I have a far superior pitching staff and offense. And it's only going to get tougher now that the one weakness in his lineup (catcher) has been filled by an 850-OPS Piazza-like monster. I still want to know where Walker fits in. Have Bernie and Corey Patterson become pinch hitters? Is Walker playing center field? I think the Zoots acquired Walker solely to keep him away from other teams. They clearly have no use for him. Myers, however, was a huge, HUGE pick-up. I planned on spending half an hour doing BDBL stuff tonight, and instead, that's all I've done since about 8:30. As if I wasn't depressed enough about every player on my team underperforming, I needed this on top of it all. What a depressing night. Why trade sooo early? Trading away guys in there walk year is great strategy if your not going to be in contention, but like Tom said, there value is going to go up as the season progresses. Not only that, but if you wait until Chap.2, 3, and 4 you have a much, much better read on the type of guy your going to get. What the heck is Mike going to say if Choi ends up hitting .240???
