Name:
Mike Ranney
Home Town: Lockport, NY
Age: 54
Birthday: January 6th
Occupation: Accountant
Family: Single
Hobbies: Reading, music, walking (used to love to play
basketball, but has slowed to a crawl last three years.) He
also closely follows track & field in addition to baseball.
Favorite team: Yankees (Mickey Mantle), Rolling Stones
Brush with fame: "Still waiting. Have dealt
with a few " celebrity " tax clients over the years while I was
working in Houston and Buffalo: Lewis Lloyd ( NBA player ), James
Johnson, aka Rick James. In Houston, there was a non-celebrity
client ( this is kinda of a brush with a brush with fame ), Mildred
Goad, whose deceased husband had been a personal assistant for John
Paul Getty,Sr in England. Played basketball against Kobe's father,
Jellybean, at the downtown Houston Y back in the eighties a few
times ( another close call ). One of my younger brothers played for
John Beilein ( Michigan basketball coach ) in junior college in the
late seventies; his backcourt partner was Reggie Witherspoon ( now
the U of Buffalo coach ). Like I said, I'm still waiting."
