Name: Tom
DiStefano
Home Town: Allentown, NJ
Age: 37
Birthday: April 17th
Occupation: Statistical analyst
Hobbies: Tennis, football, fantasy football, dogs
Favorite team: Yankees
Brush with fame: Once roomed with John Mabry. Played with or
against Jeff Bagwell, Willie Banks, Allen Watson, Jeff Juden and others. Once gave
Joan Jett batting lessons. (It's a long story.)
Interesting anecdote: "I'm about 5'10", 175 lbs so I was a bit
of a 'tweener' (between second base, shortstop and third base.) I was playing in a
baseball tournament in Maryland when a major league scout from the Astros came up to
me. He put up his hand, made a space between his thumb and index finger, and said
with a big southern drawl, 'Boy, you're 'bout this far from playing major league
baseball.' I asked, 'What's that?.' He responded, 'About 4 inches.'"
Fantasy baseball experience: Member of the DBCL, where he just lost the
World Series.
BDBL member since: 11/16/00 |
